Default Clock Time Piece for large hands

    Hi Guys,
I have a clock that was given to me but it will not keep the right time for more than about 1 week - then it's as if the battery dies and the clock starts loosing time.

It's a large wall mounted clock, and I wondered if it's hands were too big for the movement? They look like they are weighted. But would it require a High Torque movement like I see is available on the sponsors website?

Has anyone experienced this before? It's like it chews the battery too quickly?

    Thanks,
    Ronny
(PS - I can upload photos if anyone thinks they would be useful)

    Hey Ronny,

If the hands are longer than 150mm even if they are weighted (Balanced) I would use a High Torque movement, If it isn't needed it's a good backup plan.

Default Clock Time Piece for large hands

If the clock is a few years old it is probably worn out. The movements are plastic and about as cheap as they can be made. I would replace it.

    Thanks guys,

Looks like I'll have to put an order in for one... now to check dimensions....
Joe, are there any particular brands that are better and not "made of plastic"?

    Cheers,
    Ronny
