benchtop chisel morticer/mortiser
I am considering buying a bench top chisel morticer (or mortiser as some seem to spell it).
I had thought of giving a drill attachment a go but I read on one thread they strain the drill rather a lot, and since dedicated machines can be had at reasonable prices....
Anyway I have the opportunity to buy a delta second hand for $230. I believe it's a 14-651 not the older machine. Carbatec have theirs for $300 new.
I would appreciate any thoughts from those who have experience with the machines, inlcuding other options. I am not keen to spend huge money, and don't expect to use it a lot.
Any thoughts appreciated.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

I have the small carba tec bench model, which I bought second hand. I love it. Don't use it everyday, but every now and then. Makes morticing much quicker. That's a thumbs up from me.

Damian,
I have the Carba Tec one HM16D. It's not the one shown on their website but the earlier one.
Wouldn't be without it. Modified it to take a 6" crossslide vice and now morticing is a snap. I posted some pics a while ago about the mods..........ahhhhh can't find it. I'll take some more and post them here.

I have the Leda machine and am more than happy with it.
