Ben check you have undone the grub screw for starters.
Are you turning the right way
how are you holding and turning it?

The grub screw may have damaged some thread if over tightened and squashed it, then its

After checking as Wheelinround said ,Clamp a bit of wood crosswise in the jaws then place the chuck jaw side down on a solid surface so's it is resting on the bit of wood and not the face of the jaws .Place a bit of hardwood on top of the insert and give it a solid wack with a hammer and that should loosen it . I had this problem with a vimarc chuck a while ago .It may also pay to try and run some penatrating oil into the thread .

    Default So Tight.

    Hi Bupton,
Yes As Wheelin said, + use some Loctite, Freeze & Release or Inox from both inside & out & leave for awhile.
Put the Insert in the vice, open the Jaws just enough to use a longish piece of steel across the Jaws & pull on that.
Other than that, you may have to use heat .
