    Default Sheppach

Was talking to a dealer today and he tells me the Sheppach have a floating axle unsupported by bearings, hence the wooble in the wheel.

That is a fairly wide ranging statement Arthur, "the Scheppach"?

If you are referring to the Scheppach grinder, and there 2 of those, then the Tiger 2500 has an axle that runs in nylon bushes if memory serves. If the same memory serves, both Torme grinders have the same setup.

Tormek recommend lubing the shaft bushes annually so presumably they're not nylon.

Fred, from memory you got a 2500. How are you finding it?

Arthur, I dressed the wheel on mine and don't have wobble or run-out. Have the leather wheel on the other side and that has never had any wobble.

Was this dealer a Tormek dealer?

Nothing much wrong with the Scheppach wet grinders, especially the 2500. Tormek is somewhat better, but it ought to at the price!

Having said that I use Tormek jigs for it, they are superb.

Ern, quite happy with it, use it all the time and I get very repeatable results. I see you sold your Tormek, not happy with it?

Happy with it Fred but didn't really need it. Using T. jigs on a Bench Grinder Mount.

Not a Tormek Dealer Fred. From what you and Ern have said I'm concluding that he really didn't know much about either product!
