Crane Truck Tray Repairs
G'day Guys and Gals
Most of you know me as DJ, as in DJ's Timber. Anyway doing some repairs to my truck over the break as a log was dropped on it a couple of months ago by one of the guys unloading it at one of the timber mills.
Have already straightened the outside rail of the tray but didn't get any photos of it beforehand and there is no point taking any now as you wouldn't know now, as I was able to repair it quite well using my 10 ton porta power set and some of my high tensile chains.
Anyway, I removed the tray today and have now flipped it so that I can replace the damaged cross members and after seeing some of the others that have rusted in places and also cracked next to welds due to it only being 1.6mm thick RHS, I've decided to pull the checker plate floor off and replace all of the cross members.
Will probably end up using 3mm wall thickness RHS and a couple other mods while it is all apart, like a couple of wells in the tray to keep the chains in and some brackets on the backboard to hold the chain dogs and the new Poly stabiliser pads that I have on order.
Will also start another Thread next week sometime when I start work on the wood chipper to replace the pan under the chipper drum as it is wearing through and will be an interesting job.
Photos of where I'm at now.
