Default Oak dining table, finished in time for xmas!

Not a WIP, but a "I couldn't be bothered taking photos during the build, but here is the finished article" thread.

This is my first "proper" project, made mainly with hand tools (+ bandsaw, and thicknesser for initial stock preparation). Not perfect, but not too much of a mess. Fairly solid too...

The timber is American White Oak, finished with tung-based Danish oil

A very nice table. I have always liked the look of oak.
A set of chairs in the same wood for the next project perhaps.
    Regards

That would be some way down the priority list! In any case, the 'mismatch' between the light, painted bent ply chairs and the rather heavier, natural wood table is quite intentional: the attached pic is kind of the look I'm going for, except I can't afford Series 7s

I want some of those lampshades too...

Job well done on the build. Sometimes a work in progress can take a little longer as you need to pause and take photos. I will say that pausing does allow one to actually think on the next step.

That is a beautiful table. The legs are tapered to the right amount. Well done.

Nice work! That top looks very solid.

Thanks for all the kind comments chaps. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. The timber cost around A$320, so not bad value for a solid oak table either...

    Hi Stu,

You are way too modest mate. Excellent work from those photos as far as i can tell. I do like it and as you say for the cost, you have one professional looking solid Oak table. Well done.

    Cheers
