Hauser Jig Borers and Grinders
At risk of making a couple of the older blokes teary eyed I said I would post some images last night. These are an Ebay seller's photos of some brochures he had a while back.

I want a Hauser! Or a SIP. Or, God help me, a Perrin/Deckel or a Moore 1 1/2 as a last resort. Bob, while you were kicking up your heels in Europe a dandy Hauser hardness tester sold on local ebay for around $150. If I had not just purchased mine I would have been all over that like ugly on an ape.
On the other hand, if I owned a jig bore I'd have to lose a drill press which would pain me a little, since mine is a dug-up-from-the-grave-and-shocked-back-to-lifemachine with my prints all over it.

Gregory,
A couple of years ago there was a little Hauser like the green one above on Ebay. From memory it was located in, for me inaccessible, rural Victoria. Pick up only. The seller said it was a jeweller's machine. One bid and it went for $700.
I think the grey Hauser above would sit nicely next to the 13, I'd just have to build a bigger shed.

Teary Eyed
Bob
Thanks for bringing tears to my eyes.
The grey Hauser in your photo was identical to the one I operated. The machine I operated had a Hauser rotary table & was brand new.(No marks on table) Totally marvellous !
One would walk over broken glass to get to one of these.
Even though I do not have an urgent need for such a machine, it would be just good to have in the workshop, drool over & wipe down with an oily rag.
Wonderful therapy
regards

Same thoughts
Bob
Today was a day in the city with my wife & the older grandkids 12 & 9 visiting the Sydney museum.
Thinking about it today,I had the same thought,I wish I had have known you during our last visit to W A late 2010.
However I had another thought, if I managed to get a Hauser Jig Borer then I might get you to travel over to our side of the country ?
Either way it would be good to share experiences, & talk about projects.
There is so much knowledge on this forum.
regards
Bruce

Bob, that sounds very similar to this one, but it was only a few months ago: Milling Machine Jig Borer
Edit: Sorry, not if it was like the wee green one above.

Bruce, I wasn't leaning on you. My wife is in Melbourne at the moment (isn't batching great) and she has been hounding me to fly over to catch up with Beck. I've been hanging off because of a rumour about another scrapefest taking place. So my visit will be down the track. We will meet.
