    Default I Missed Out

On Friday night, after a nice family dinner and a couple of reds, I settled down to watch T.V. I rarely watch T.V. as we have free to air, and well, it just ain't all that good. Not to mention it drops out most of the time. After watching B. H. & G. I decided to get onto the net' and surf the night away.

Some tiime into surfing, a bolt from the blue hit me, MyEbay . . . eeek.

Too late, I'd forgotten about the Sherwood Scrollsaw that I was determined to buy.

A Sherwood, pinless, variable speed went off for just $75.00. It was pick-up only, which would have menat 340K's on the clock, but hey, I needed to catch up with those city mates and their cans of Bourbon & Coke they need help with.

I watched it start at $00.00. and then forgot the damned thing was there.

Anyone have a report on this make of scrollsaw?

I have seen them advertised, but I haven't heard any reports about them adverse or otherwise. Of course, if there isn't a lot of them around, that's usually a good sign of trouble. Thanks for the response Jim. Saving? I think a lotto win is required. LOL

Never miss another ebay auction - use an auction sniper.

I use www.gixen.com - it's free, nicely configurable, and you can place your bid in the last few seconds so you don't drive the price up in a bidding war (there are too many idiots who will pay more than retail to win something off ebay).

I have the ebay app on my phone so I can stay updated all the time (I know, no life). I prefer my own bids not sniper but each to their own

I have a Ryobi saw that is identical except for the colour. It's not as bad as all that. If you can afford better, then definitely go for better, and if it's something you will be using all the time on big projects then you may want a more expensive saw, and I'm not sure I'd pay what Timbercon has them for new. Definitely worth 80 bucks second hand on ebay in decent condition though.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

I get told off consistently for playing with my mobile, so it was on charge at the time, but it could have been on charge next to me and the TV. I will put Ebay onto my mobile and get the alerts.

My eldest son and I used to use two browsers when bidding. Keep refreshing one of them and snap a last minute bid with the other. Not always succesful though. Maybe that Sherwood did have an impending problem, and I'd always rather have new anything.

    Thanks for the input.

Thanks Pete, I already knew that, and like yourself, I have formed a good opinion of Jim and his shop. These days though, on the pension, money always seems to be short, whilst the cost of living gets higher. Once upon a time I could fix little jobs on my car myself, or get a mate to do it. The Computerised Car has altered that somewhat. I was slugged $280.00 to have a job done that used to cost $10.00. It is still th same job, but after the repair, "The Computer Has To Be Reset". I watched them do the job and it took less then twenty minutes and more like ten. Now I find I have another of the "Little $300.00" jobs to be done. Oh well, I have to say I'm lucky to still be a live and driving when a lot mates never made it to th Computerised Car Era". LOL

One of these days Jim. I may run a permanant garage sale until everything I no longer use is gone.

So Pete, you have a dead Makita. Is a motor available for it? Can it not be fixed. Can it be modified to take another motor?

I have no idea at all but as I have the hegna I haven't worried about repairing it. I actually bought it with the idea of getting a high torque 12v motor for when I go travelling though thats still on the back burner but as I have a inverter genny the 12v idea is over and its just collecting dust
