darryls amps are great i have had maybe 6 of them through here
they are a great rock out little amp - i have a 10 watter here right now that may become my workshop amp

2x10's is pretty punchy 1x12 big and warm i use both
    generally lorantz from dandenong
the 2x10 in the tweed super clone has plenty of firepower on a big stage whereas the 12" doesn't cut through with quite the same authority - in the smaller places i play the 12" in a 20 watt amp is way to much - 10 watts and a 10" is way more suited

choosing speakers is a tricky and expensive journey

    G'day Ray,

Which model valvetone amp do you have please?

There are a few 10 watters I think there is the Tio and the Phoenix. If these do rock well I'm sure they would do blues real well. I 'm a player who prefers to use my volume on the guitar to get my clean, blues and rock tones. I would say these amps would do that. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.

I like the 12" speaker, warm tone! My gigging days are over now.

    Cheers

    Alan

    i bet they ain't

    i have a phoenix - 2 x el84
the tio is 18 watts 2x6l6 - way more than you need

the phoenix sounds very good through a wgs veteran 10" i have here
the speaker is not very efficient but has a real nice warm blooming tone

gotta admit i havent tried it with much else as it was such a nice match i just put
amp and speaker in the corner to wait for me to put them both into a combo cab
if i ever get to the end of the current pile of guitars stacked up by my desk

I have a spare Eminence Gb128 greenback clone that I was thinking of paring with the Valvetone Pheonix. I'm going to have a go at building the cab for it with an open back.

Any advice on building the cab and size?

    Cheers

    Alan
