    Default Glue Up

    Hi all,

Just glued up the scarf joint for a neck not long ago with Titebond original. The bottle says to clamp for 30 minutes, but I was wondering if leaving the joint clamped for a longer time period will make any difference at all?

    Thanks

It is not going to hurt I have clamped using titebond and left all night.
Better to be safe than sorry 30 minutes some times is not long enough.
    Regards Bob

I was planning on leaving it the night anyway seeing as weather is a little cooler at the moment. Last few times I've just left it clamped up for a week

Tightbond has a cure time. The bottle says not to stress the joint for 24 hrs.

I like to clamp as long as I can. Over night for a table top, always. In warm weather I've thicknessed panels within 2 hrs when pressed for time but it doesn't feel right. Never had a failure.

Instruments, I don't take any chances and go minimum 2 hrs. Longer if I can.
    Cheers, Bill

Well it has been overnight now, but I'm busy all day so I might as well leave it until tonight. No harm in that, and it's guaranteed that the joint won't be stressed for the 24 hour period too
