Thread: My DC equipment went walkabout

My DC equipment went walkabout
Ordered some y joints, clamps etc. from Hare and Forbes in Sydney.
After 8 days I called them and asked where my shipment was.
They told me it had been delivered and signed for 5th June.
I haven't seen it.
Turned out Star Track Express has delivered it to someone called J. Dunlop who also signed for it.
Trouble is the only J. Dunlop in the area is a mining engineer who has been in Egypt for about a month.
So it is anybody's guess where the stuff is but we cannot finish our DC without the missing parts.
Third time we have had problems with Star Track Express.
Even though we pay for door-to-door delivery, they refuse to come down here
Another delivery was supposed to arrive yesterday.
Star Track driver called to say he would not leave the highway and go down here, it was too far out of his way. Told him we had paid for delivery to our address. Never heard from him again so that is another consignment that has gone walkabout.
Of course it always happens on a Friday, so the week-end is wasted.
Not happy

Crikey, what's wrong with these people. I looked at google maps and you are not that far off the beaten track?
It's frustrating when this happens. Hope it get's sorted soon.

So the driver signed it himself and threw it away or put it in his own shed?

Oh yes, when we are talking about couriers, 13 km is a looooong way off the beaten track.
First time it happened, the driver wanted to charge me $50 extra to come down here.
Unfortunately for him, when someone steps on the wolf's toes, it bites, so he came to regret what he said

H&F have already told me they will replace them if they cannot be found even though it is not their fault
I guess, however, they will not be prepared to pay delivery charges to Star Track.

The possibility of Fraudulent activity on behalf of a Courier Service is not a good advertisement for that business. Especially if it relies on corporate customers. Are you going to contact the Queensland civil authorities?
H&F reply is in keeping with their culture of service to the customer.Pat

I think I found out where my consignment is.
Friend of mine told me a T. Dunlop works at the servo on the highway and she could possibly have signed for it unwittingly.
However I am not able to find out until Tuesday. They are not open in weekends.
Damn public holidays
However, I refuse to travel up there to pick it up, notwithstanding that I don't drive anyway....
Star Track will be given whatfor.
There will be some feathers flying.

FRor some mreason, couriers and carrier will not deliver large packages and parcels to domestic premises here.
If one man can't easiloy pick up and ccarry the item, or if it is a large size irrespective of the weight, it goes to the depot and has to b e collected from there.
Bit of a nonsense I think.

Sure is nonsense.
However, H&F guarantee door-to-door delivery so, if the couriers won't honour that promise, they lose the contract.
Spoke with Star Track head office on Friday, apparently it is a franchise up here and if they don't deliver, they give a bad name to the whole operation plus they may lose a lucrative contract.
Be interesting to see what happens today.

Update on my missing consignments
Just had a call from Star Track Express
Express my foot.
They have now found one of the consignments, it was delivered to someone called J. Dunlop.
However, they refuse to deliver it here.
I can either travel to where the parts have been delivered or they will send it back to Hare & Forbes.
They don't know where the other consignment is.
My bad luck as far as S.T.E is concerned.
They sure don't know what Customer Service is.
I am spitting chips
H&F advised me they will have the parts returned to them and then send it up with Australia Post.
I cannot complain about the service from H&F.
I sure hope they aren't going to Pay S.T.E for the non-delivery.

How the heck can they deliver to J Dunlop?
It had your address on it.
Or do they just look up the name in the phone book and say thats close enough regardless of whats on the delivery docket?
It doesn't even sound plausable.
Maybe delivering to no 6 instead of 16, or to the house next door cos you weren't home or the driver can't read numbers. But to someone else with the same name has nothing to do with the name or the address on the parcel.

My name is not even close to J Dunlop, it is L Wolff and the consignment was sent to Little Wolff Designs.
