A messy shed is a workshop. A clean shed is a museum.

Shed update
A little more progress on the shed.
I added some additional framing around the pergola beam to support the cladding.
Then tacked on the sisalation.Scally

Wall cladding progress
I primed and put two coats of paint on the back and side walls.
Then cut the cladding to fit the remaining front wall.
I almost had enough cladding to finish it????
The cut cladding was primed and painted before putting it up.
Even these cut pieces were too heavy to put up on my own. A third hand might have made it possible but I couldn't hold up a panel, get a clout into pre-drilled holes and hammer it in.
Fortunately a friend dropped in wanting help with a job. I was pleased to help once he helped put up the cladding.Scally

Queensland Maple Panels
I have got used to the shed without doors!!!
The Qld Maple slabs for the panels have spent the last year drying in the shed.
I have just got them out to start working on them again and they look flat and dry.
They should be fine to work on now.
The frames are all prepared and ready for the panels. You can see them on the "new" racks behind the six slabs.
What's wrong with my painting???
I think it looks pretty good.
A coat of primer and two coats of exterior finish. All done with brush and rollers. I did plan to spray paint it but my compressor wouldn't start.
The roller finish is fine.
Hi Sawdust Maker, I have had a few other jobs to do that have interferred with the important shed work.
I intend to rectify that over the next few months.
CheersScally

Soffits
The next job was to do the soffits.
I had bought them when we started framing the shed. Initially all the eaves were the same width but I decided to move the roof forward so I had more protection at the front.
The hardware shop was happy to replace the ones that I had bought so they were wide enough for the front eave.
They still had to be cut to fit.
I cut all the soffits to width then measured and cut each one to length as they were needed.
Holes were pre-drilled for nailing.
I painted them all before putting them up. One less job to do on a ladder.
My mate with a good ladder turned up to help me out. It is a bit fiddly sliding the soffits into the groove in the back of the facia, fitting the plastic joining strip and nailing them into place. Especially working above your head. Plus I have a bad habit of cutting things a touch too long. So several pieces had to be re-cut.
There was a bit of cutting to fit around the front posts but the Festool saw with the right blade did a neat job. The Shop-Vac kept the fine dust to a minimum.
Just need to buy one more sheet of Ezy-Lap to finish the front!!! Bugger.
The front looks like a kid with a missing front tooth.Scally

The Painter
I haven't made any life changing decisions.
Just a bit slower...........
I occasionally convince visitors to give me a hand. I even supply check shirts if needed!!
The Ugg boots were the closest she had to work boots.
They are probably a good idea on cold days like today.
The last piece of cladding is finally up and painted.
I added a couple of extra framing boards around the pergola beam to support the cladding.
It is almost looking like a real shed. (If only I had some front doors!!!)Scally

Timber Storage Racks in the Shed
Back in the shed I need to increase the timber storage.
First I added two more rows of board storage.
There is a gap above where a Drop Saw is planned. The gap gives clearance to operate the saw and add lighting if needed.
Additional timber will need to be stored outside, somewhere!!
Atleast know I have a place to store special boards and WIP pieces that clutter benches and walls.
I have a storage area for plywood sheets in the corner but it was messy and didn't use the space very well.
The new storage uses the existing base and is enclosed on the side and top.
A central partition separates full sheets near the wall and half and third sheets on the outside.
The height needs to be more than 2400mm to fit full sheets so I added 4x2s to the top.
The central partition is 12mm ply which is the cheapest available locally, $35 a sheet. It doesn't need any strength except to hold the shelf supports.
On the outside I wanted to be able to attach hooks and/or cabinets so it needed to be thicker.
The imported Film Ply was the best value. It is about 18mm thick and pretty stiff.
Now I can store flat sheets in a variety of sizes. Plus I have re-gained some wall space.Scally
