Default What's the Best Way to Polish Checker-plate

Over the last 16 months I've built a custom car and it has a heap of aluminium checker-plate in the rear tray area.

What's the best way to get a decent shine on it and then keep the shine on it?

Here's a shot of the rear tray. There's another panel that goes behind the engine to keep fingers out of the fan belt plus the tailgate is lined with the same plate.

    That looks like fun!

My problem is some areas are hard to access such as down beside the engine.

The alloy is in good nick so perhaps a buff with cutting compound then polishing it would work.

I contacted the POR15 distributors and they suggested polishing it then cleaning it carefully and coating it with Glisten PC to keep it shiny and save future polishing.

The car is a toy and will live indoors and only be driven in the dry (it will be dangerous in the wet with a tight LSD) so the alloy won't be put under much pressure from the sun or rain.

I'll have it back from paint in a couple of weeks and see how it goes from there.
