Default Restoring nitrocellulose finish on a mandolin

Any ideas on how to restore stain and finish on the top section of the back of the mandolin? See photograph. Or is it best to take to a luthier?

There was a fine crack on the join between the back plates where it has been lightly sanded. It looks like the nitrocellulose was stained, as there is no stain underneath it.

    Thanks

    Nic
