    Default Superstar build x 2!!

Wow its been a long time since I've posted one of these lol. Not a lot of activity around here these days but Searls inspired me to post a build thread lol.

2 builds at once at the moment. Just a superstrat style. I based the design on an rg and tweaked it to my liking..

I started by sorting my design in solidworks.

Both builds are mahogany bodies with maple necks. One with ebony fb, the other quilted maple.

Setnecks with hipshot hardtails and sperzel locking tuners

And here's the template together to get an idea of shape and feel

    Templates machined on acrylic

I've actually made quite a bit of progress so far so I've got a few pics. All crappy phone pics but it's better then nothing. Enjoy!

That's pretty much where it's at right now. I glued the fretboard on today so I'll trim them flush tomorrow. Prob won't get more done til next week. I'm building a body for someone so that's priority this weekend. Here's a quick shot of that

Thanks for looking. Stay tuned for more!

Ah cheers Stu! Nice to see you around these parts too.

The acrylic temps are great. My dad's company does plastics so he machined them for me. I drew all the plans in solidworks

I've been following ur build on ur Site too. Holy smokes that thing is unbelievable!! Very inspiring!

Been playing around with a few inlay ideas in Solidworks for the maple fretboard. The ebony board isnt going to have inlays. Just glow in the dark side dots.
Im going to use different size abalone dots to create this:

Lol I just realised my phones stupid Auto Correct changed my thread title to Superstar build!! Should be SUPERSTRAT!! How do I change it????

You have access to CNC ... Very lucky. Even if it's only for the templates, that's still a giant help.

Love the inlay designs. I'll be following.

I ordered a band saw and drill press from Carbatec online and selected pickup. I went there and they still wanted my credit card to process the order. I thought to myself "Why did I order online then?"

Yea they're pretty incompetent. I try to stay away from them now.
