Question What is the best time to buy a table saw??

    Dear Woodwork Enthusiasts,

I am in the market to buy a table saw. I was interested in buying one of the table saws TS12RX from Carbatec here in Springvale, Melbourne.
The reason why I didn't buy it sooner is that I know that discounts will be offered for Father's Day and Woodworking show in the Exhibition Center.
I was looking to the now published Father's Day specials on the Carbatec website but there are no reductions in table saws announced. Should I wait until the Woodwork show or should I buy now?
When would be the best time to buy bigger (read more expensive) tools?
I hate it when I buy tools at over inflated prices only to find out that a couple of weeks later the same product is offered at a heavily reduced price.
By the way, what are your opinions on the TS12RX?
    Thanks for your advice.
    Luke.
    (Melbourne).

Thats a bit of a proper flash machine to which I don't think you'll see Carbatec advertising a reduced price. You'll be better off haggling with them when you're ready to buy. But do your research.

Wednesdays are generally a good day for big purchases!

If the current trend continues C/T generally have a sale a few weeks before the Melbourne Wood Show to try and get the buyers before the show. Not sure if the saw you are after will be discounted but they may have a standard % off sale.

Then there is also the 3 day sale starting 23rd Aug to 25th Aug.

    • Clearance Items
    • Specials
    • Catalogue Deals
    • Price Rollbacks
    • Demos

If they take the saw you are interested to the show then you may be able to get a good deal so they do not have to transport it back to the shop.

If you are serious and rock up with the cash you may be able to get a sale price just by asking.

Carbatec have some machinery at the show but larger ticket items and weighty items are left back at the shop and they take orders at the show and ship out to you.

When is the best time to buy anything like this, generally when you have the money because if it sits too long then it will get spent on other things.

    Default Thye Right Time,

    Hi Luke,
The right time might be when " The Timber & Working with Wood Show " is on at the Melb Showgrounds, Oct. 19th. - 20th. - & - 21st. 2012. I think I have that right.
    Regards,

The Carbatec website has been updated to show the prices for the 3 day sale that Sir Stinkalot mentions. Looks like around $400 off the saw you want.
