    Just another update...

It is always nice to see the end in sight. Here are some finished 25mm firmer chisels. Today should also see the 12mm come off the line as well.

Burraboy has agreed to cut the ferrules for us using the thicker x-wall brass tube that we will supply, using his metal lathe, all I need to do order the brass from George White and post it directly to him. Burraboy will try to get a sample to and Tea Lady asap. Burraboy has been also kind enough to not charge us for his time and labour.

I have also found a buyer for the paring chisels. This will finally bring in the money we need to pay for the ferrules and to pay for half of handle turning cost so and Tea Lady can get going.

Those firmer chisels look great. Will those of us waiting for unhandled turning tools expect to receive them soon or are they still some way off yet? Any info appreciated, thanks Thumbsucker.

I spoke to Josh last week, who informed me that RayG is doing the turning tools. RayG is still recovering from major surgery and has not been up to doing much. As far I know the turning tools are mostly done except for bevels. But do not quote me.

If all that remains is the bevels, would you be happy to take possession as is?

I have sent RayG a PM to see what he says to our request.

    Hi Helmut,

I'll reply here rather than a PM..

We posted a batch of stuff today, I'll let Josh provide the list.

As far as posting the partially finished turning chisels, no problem, but I'd prefer to finish the job.

    Regards
    Ray

Sorry for my impatience. I'm happy to wait if you would prefer to finish the job. I think I would also prefer to get the completed job. So please ignore my request. I'm just eager to get them. Thanks again for all your efforts.

I hadn't appreciated you'd had surgery - wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope it went well and all is now good!

Just for curiosity's sake, what needs doing on the turning skews?* oh and I'm only too happy to see the job finished to your satisfaction

*if this has been notified previously, my apologies and I'll blame it on Mr Al Ziemer!

Me neither. All the best Ray for your convalescence .

That Al Ziemer, he's got a lot to answer for, but exactly what escapes me for the moment .

Thanks Paul, Nick and others, The trouble with Al Zeimer, is he sneaks up on you, and you don't even know he's there...

Thanks for the good wishes, I'm pretty much fully recovered now and going along ok, but a lot of projects have stalled in the meantime. The group plane blades and chisel grinding jobs are being very capably handled by Josh, ( anyway he's much better with the surface grinder than I am, but don't let him know that! ).

We are currently looking for a radius dresser to finish off the remaining smaller firmer chisels, so there is a few days break coming when we (well Josh at least) could fit in the finishing of the turning chisels.

    Regards
    Ray

PS There's a bit of discussion on radius dressers here for those that might be interested.
