Im with Steve, a busy XMAS. Looking good!
Maybe a long languorous afternoon on the balcony with some light refreshments and listening to loved ones belting out Smoke on the Water or something like that"We must never become callous. When we experience the conflicts ever more deeply we are living in truth. The quiet conscience is an invention of the devil." - Albert Schweizer

Check out this 4 string version.
This bloke made it from a wheelbarrow handle & wound his own pickup using a bar magnet.

How thin did you go on your tops? If not too thin for me, it looks like a better way to put them together than what I have tried. I could then use some nicer wood.
Have you strung them yet and given them a strum. I'm more interested in the acoustic versions.
Im not a guitar player but took the one I am playing with at the moment to work and it seems I have 4 more to make. The boys were intrigued by the design and googled them on the spot. The sound is so much different from what they are used to and 2 of the blokes play banjo.
Your thread has done what questions can't answer in piccies, apreciated.

The tops are 4mm thick, as are the backs, they are strung and the grand children love them , .
as for sound , well I cannot play either , but they sound ok to me, they have been strung with nylon guitar strings , easier on little fingers.
I am making a Bass for my son (26 year old) , and the face and back are slightly thicker and the sides are silky oak , the face & back are laminated from Beech & New Guinea Rose Wood, as is the neck.

That reso by Harrison Withers has a cone by Mike Lowe from Texas.. He sells em for $25 each, they stack real nice so 4 or 5 post for the same price as one. Mike and Harrison are both real decent guys. Mike builds big hollow coffin type steel guitars with those cones and truckie style pinstripes, they're super cool
