DIY Fret Slotting Jig
Dozuki 240 mm saw from Rutlands (offer) with UHMWPE spine stiffener and depth stop. Ply and UHMWPE saw guide, Bakelite height shims. Lexan CAD CAM Laser cut slotting template, St.Steel locator pin (or Stanley blade in slot for copying precut f/b slots) and 15" Purpleheart Ukulele fingerboard blank. Worked well.

Looks like it will do the job.
I'd be tempted to use something like clear Perspex, Plexiglass, Acrylic or Polycarbonate on the top so I could see.
I understand that it can be all lined up ready to go without the saw in place but, I'd still like to see what was happening.Cliff.

I see a lot of people making all these fancy slotting jigs. I use a Ryobi sliding drop saw ($250?) and a stewmac blade. A block of wood with a pin in it for the template, and you can do a fretboard in about 3 minutes. I did 40 two days ago in under two hours.

Chuck a block of wood on the saw, clamp it down. Install a locating pin for the fret slot template. Easy!

Bandsaw Fret slotting
That looks like a nice jig. I use my bandsaw for fret slotting. It takes a while to make each template for different scale lengths, but once they are made, you have them forever. Have a look at this link Fret slots by Bandsaw.m4v - YouTube By the way, I use an old blade that I removed the set on to match the fret tang for a tight fit. I use that blade exclusively for fret slots. It only penetrates the fingerboard minimally, so set on the blade is not an issue. I also recommend that you use a smaller pin, something that I have corrected since this video was made.
