    Default Gatto 56 pickup

Thought I'd put this one up.
    Made from blackwood.
Cheated and used yellow glass beads for headlights.
Went a lot darker after the tung oil flooring finish was applied.
I need to start making these things with contrasting colours to make them interesting.

    That's a good looking truck you've built "Fly"...well done.
How big is it and how long did it take to build please?
I'd love to the detail in your workmanship of those small photos as big photos, please.
    Cheers, crowie

    Thanks guys,

I built it over 2 weeks, wasn't in a hurry, even went on a fishing trip in the middle.
Its 35 cm long (14 inch) and 15 cm (6 inch) wide and high.

I didn't like the plans version for hubcaps and went thru about 9 sets before I settled on the boring pine ones.
Made jarrah ones (flat disks like the plan), blackwood ones (domed). I even looked at shiny black glass beads and matt black glass beads.
The glass ones are those ones women put in vases to hold flowers. I used the small yellow ones for the headlights as I said before.

Might have to try an different makers plans next time. Thats 2 gatto's I've made and the plans are either not the greatest or more likely I'm not the greatest at reading them.

Not sure if I'll put the extra pieces on yet, the hood ornament is ok and I might do that but the chevy chevron on the back may go missing.

And I really do need to start using contrasting stuff.

That came up really good, Pete. I reckon that in this case, one timber was more than sufficient, since the light bounces off the figure in the timber so well. Great work, I love it.

Been meaning to have a go at this one myself, but:
    a. I've been flat-out, and
    b. When I had a good look at the plans a while back, some parts were pretty cryptic and I couldn't quite see how it all goes together. Now I know who to ask. (You and Bob.)

N.B. You should have put this in the 'Scale Models' section, I reckon. It's not just a toy.
