Hey Craig, I don't know why I didn't see it before, but that's a pretty shmick renovation on your old boat at http://craigsboatbuild.blogspot.com....1_archive.html. You've got a good eye for detail.

    Thanks Mick.

Yeah I really enjoyed doing the last boat. So much I had to start from scratch.
I think I have a bit of an obsession about getting things just right. At the time I don't see how good things look until I look back at them.

Should have a few premature pics of the hull on trailer soon - moving house.

Well it's out with inches to spare. Just hope it goes back on the dollies as easy as it came off. Off to its new home tomorrow, a real shed.

The hull looks nice and deep - it'll be interesting to see it in the water. Have you fully welded out the hull seams now? Are you going to do a float/leak test while you've got it out and about?

A few old tyres might be helpful to catch and anchor the back of the boat when lowering back onto the dollies.

More importantly - does your new place have a bigger garage/shed?

On the welding side, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the welder - most useful settings, best cable liners, features you don't use, etc. Time for a bit of a review?

That's a good looking trailer. 'C' section is definitely the go in my book, my current trailer is box section and has undergone a few major rust repairs - I won't repair it again - it'll go to scrap. I like the walkway on the trailer too - my old trailer had this, but my current one doesn't - and I miss it. Looks like moderate protection for the tail-lights. This is one area that can cop a beating if launching/retrieving by yourself in side winds and chop - so my next trailer will be a bit beefier than my current version - maybe even some rubber bumpers - but obviously can't obscure visibility of the lights.

    Cheers

    - Mick

    Hi Mick,

Late post I know, all the moving, Christmas, holidays, kids blah blah blah. It's back to reality and the boat. I still have to steal my car back from being the family run about and build a roof rack yet.

Yes I now have more room to move. Well not yet, will be starting this weekend to clean it out. It's a 12 x 6 shed.

Hull seams are are fully welded inside only. It will be flipped over to finish the external welding then leak tested.

Yep welder review to come. The Mackay trailer I can't recommend enough. Fits the boat like a glove.

    Cheers.
    Craig

Finally had time to do the ladder rack.

Setting up frames. most of it was screwed together before welding.

    Mesh idea was scrapped.

    Checking fit up.

    Extra brackets and skids attached.

Wind testing time. Had to add a 200mm flat section to the front to stop the buffeting. The second pic shows a bungy cord wrapped around the front rail which surprisingly cut almost all the wind noise. The flat peice fixed it 100%.

    Completed rack. Powder coated finish.
