Default Pinprick holes in box gutter

While replacing asbestos soffit sheeting (professionally), we discovered that the underside of the guttering located immediately above those sheets has a smattering of whitish corrosion points that are getting ready to corrode through as pinprick rust holes.

Of course one solution is to replace the old gutters with new.

Would an alternative strategy such as cleaning up the inside of the gutters, and applying some primer/sealant paint be likely to help? Any tips?

Does anyone have any other solution?

    Regards

Dont waste your time even thinking about repainting / sealing, rust spots in gutters are the grim reapers of any rainwater product.

Replace with new colorbond gutter of your choice, end of problem and DONT use 100x50 down pipes, they only catch leaves, use 100x75 downpipes, fewer blockages, easier to clean, less overflows

Whilst replacing the whole guttering system may be the best it is a very expensive option.

If it is a small area or your finances are limited covering the outside bottom of the guttering with Bear brand asphalt tape is a good alternative. It's available from Bunnings.

I have made repairs to our gutters that way that lasted at least 10 years and have fixed holes in gal iron roofing sheets 30 years ago that are still going strong.

    Good Morning Macz

    I essentially agree with Sturdee.

A slightly easier method is to paint the insides of the gutters with bituminous paint. I did a temporary repair of then leaking gutters almost twenty years ago, and its still going strong. From memory, I used Ormonoid.
