    Default Pickup wire

    Gday all

I have just started winding my own pickups. I bought kits from Stew-Mac along with the 42AWG wire.

As this was my first attempt at winding pickups, I had to wind them a few times before I got it right. Now I am out of wire and have some more to wind.

I live in Perth, West Australia and I am trying to find somewhere to buy some more 42AWG wire locally or in Australia, wire but I am having trouble finding it. Its easy enough to get from the US but its expensive.

If anyone knows where to get it please let me know.

I have lots. But like you said its from the US and its expensive. Its going to be more here. You might save something because of the lack of US shipping. I only have large rolls, so you'll get a LOT more than what you get from Stewmac.

Sorry for the late reply Perry. Been stuck in the shed.

I don't really need a large roll of wire. Sounds like I may be better off getting it from StewMAc in the end.

Rob from Mytoolstore in Brisbane sells Stewmac gear. Worth checking him out as postage is quite a bit cheaper and he'll get your order within 2 - 3 days.

I have no association with this company.

That's really handy to know. Especially if you need something in a hurry

I get it on eBay, the best deals after factoring shipping in are usually from the uk. I get one kg spools these days but the guy does smaller spools too. The shipping works out almost the same fr the bigger spool so if you plan to wind more its usually worth it.
