    Default Pink and Rocks

    Well here we go again. I know I can hear you all saying "Not another W.I.P." well you keep asking for them.

    I will start the W.I.P. with some XXX rated pictures of naked wood. So don't get excited

    The large sheets are 8' X 4' ply in 3/4", 1/2" and 1/4" thickness not all of it will be used in this project The dowel rods are 8' long 1 is 1" dia and the other 2 are 1/4" dia.

    This is being built from an idea in my head so you will have to bear with me.

    OH yes I have not told you what it is have I, Well watch and you will see

    My first post in this W.I.P. was about 15mins after delivery of the wood. And since then I have managed to cut and shape some pieces for this project. Should I tell you all what it is or see how long it takes to become obvious what it is.

    Man I have no idea. Was thinking about how the dowel rod would tie in. Obviously it's a toy or you wouldn't be posting in here.

    Most definitely a Toy. No work on it this weekend as the 3/4" ply has that many voids in it that you could fit the space shuttle into them, The timber yard are very good and will change it on Monday I just caught them before closing for the weekend.
    I could always go and do some turning.

    Come on Arthur, I thought you were old enough to remember imperial measurements..... I surely do and I'm only 57....lol....

    Just to give an Idea the parts I have cut Are about 36" (about 1 metre)long and 9" (230mm) tall width is about 9" (230mm)

    Peter it will be coloured Pink and it certainly rocks. Pink as it is for a girl.

    Sorry I was brought up on Imperial and forget that some people use metric. I had to look up the conversion

    Thought I would have a lazy day today. But decided to go out and have a tidy up in the shed it took all of 10minutes. Well all I had done was turn a small bowl.

    Once the tidy up was complete I took the opportunity to make a couple of templates to speed up the making of some parts.

    These are made from MDF as I had a little knocking about, I need to produce at least 12 of each shape so this will help the holes in each piece will help with alignment when it is assembled. I also put holes into the two large pieces. Dowelling rod will be put through these. Luckily I had some spare as the 2 pieces I had brought are for another part of the build

    OK enough playing games. What I am building is another rocker in the shape of a car, and yes it is going to be Pink for a little girl.

    Loosely based on a MG car below but not a exact copy

    Anyway I managed to get my replacement sheet of ply and start to cut out the bonnet and boot shapes. At the moment they are rough cut and need to go onto the router table to finalize the shape to match the templates I made which are now smoothed out. The line up holes will also help to hold the template in place for when I rout them to there final shape

    As a former owner operator of an MGB (God I miss that car), I Will be watching this one with interest.
    I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

    Welcome aboard will try to make it look like the MG the best I can. Have done some more will take some more photo's in the morning
