    A good find Derek.

Pete, I also found this old thread with a bit more background info on the BAS500, especially in Post #4: https://www.woodworkforums.com/f27/el...please-132726/

    How goes the battered body??
G'Day & Thank you Arthur for the catchup.....
The wrist is slowly getting better but still hurts bad with either fine or gross motor movements,
especially trying to hold a sanding block or a slight twist as I pickup something.
I've learnt yet another valuable lesson the hard way plus it seems to take longer to heal as one passes 50...
On the rest of the body; well that's way too long a story except to say I have been visiting too many medical appointment in the past couple of months.
BUT as we all know making toys is good for the heart, head and hands so the more time in the shed, the better.
    Cheers, crowie

PS - Have conscripted the neighbour to help move and install the new bandsaw on the weekend..... ordered 2 blades this afternoon from Henry Bros..

sanders can be a bit unforgiving - I've still a tender finger from a mishap with a 12" disc sander

I think because they are sanders we aren't as watchful as we normally would be

I hope you get better soonish - of all of your niggles

am watching the build with interest - love toy builds

Default Some progress on te truck but have been side tracked by a bandsaw....

Some progress on the truck but have been side tracked, with the receipt of the new second-hand bandsaw......
Thank you for the assistance gents all, in sourcing the manual and other information, its much appreciated.....
I've managed to cut the windscreen blank with its recesses for the ''A'' pillows using the old bandsaw before I did the swap-over.
The jig I made is in one of the photos..
The new bandsaw is so much bigger and needs a little TLC, plus I'll need to do some more rearranging/sorting...
    Cheers, crowie

    PS - I purchased 2 new bi-metal bandsaw blades from Henry Bros... 3380mm x 3/4'' x 1.25tpi + 3380mm x 1/2'' x 3tpi

Yes Bret, she's a 17'' bandsaw & it jolly heavy, 160kgs [355lbs] & proving a little difficult to setup thus far [heaps bigger than old girl] , but I'll win......cheers, Peter

Default Finally some progress wit photos!!!

    Finally some progress with photos!!!
I firstly glued the windscreen and surrounds together before running it through the saw to clean it up..
Then I glued the body to the bonnet [hood] and the mudguards [fenders] to the body...
I glued the chassis to the body after gluing the location spacer in place [according to the plan I also need to secure it wit 3 screws].
I've remade the radiator as shown in the photo and modified the front bumper.
I have also decided the truck would look better [tougher] with a set of exhaust stacks.
[the design is modeled on a mate on LumberJocks Logging Truck].
    Cheers Crowie.

    Exhaust stacks always look Kool.
When I was a kid a bloke in town had a green Morris Minor Van
with stacks running up each side behind the doors.
I thought I was the Koolest car in town.
    And wait for it.
It was fitted with air brakes!

Really like the truck crowie Kool stacks!

Looks like you are on a roll now Crowie, but you will be torn as to which one to give the most attention to, the truck or the bandsaw.
    Good luck with both!!
