Looking good Peter, I have been looking at the options and agree the last one is probably the best one as it leaves the tipper body close to the cab and avoiding a large gap. Keep the photo's coming you know how Crowie likes them OH that is you

Peter, would it be possible to mount the stacks behind the cab still as in the first picture, and cut them off shorter so that you do not have to cut the lip away. A 45 deg end as shown would see all gases expelled away from the tray.
As your tray is the same width as the cab, I feel the stacks tend to stick out a bit when mounted on the side.
Looks like you have made some good use of the axle pegs from Simon.

It's looking good Peter. Keep up the good work. I vote for stacks on the side as well.
    Cheers Frank.

Default Lots of prep, gluing, drying and waiting......

The second round of the cortisone injections went well and am now awaiting for it to work....
I've managed to enjoy some shed time in little doses which is good for where the build is at....
Lots of prep, gluing, drying and waiting......starting with the cabin, the sidesteps, the exhaust stacks, the front bumper...
Made and glued the rear bumper with lights & mudflaps ..... not on the plans
Fitted the tipper tray adding a set of guides .....
The second lot of photos are a mockup of the final truck, unless I add or modify something else....
I've also gone mad and ordered some of the ''Peterbilt'' Tie Pins from the Peterbilt Store in USA to add to my trucks....

For the blokes across the other side of the world!!
PLEASE send some rain and cool weather DownUnder....
So much of the bush [country] is in drought with way too many hot days of 35-40 deg''C''; that's around 100 deg''F'' plus more devastating bushfires in West Australia capital Perth [50+ homes lost] ...

Bother the Manage Attachments ''file upload'' isn't working properly [tried 3 times] so I'll have to add the photos later....

    Default Photos....

    Photos....another try!!

Forgot to mention I made the ''air-horns'' for on the cabin roof plus a ''toolbox'' for behind the cabin....

Added the filler caps to the fuel tanks though I still have to glue them in place under the chassis....

Still have to assemble the front and rear axles assembles for gluing to the truck chassis....

The photos are working this time BUT only one at a time...very slow too!!

Coming along nicely now Pete. It's looking really good.

I hope the cortisone injections work well for you. There's nothing like pain to take the edge off an otherwise good day.

So I'm not the only one having problems with the attachment uploader - it's stuck in basic mode. A bit slow when you want to add a number of pics.

Another top notch build from the Crowie Truck Factory. I bet Handy's arms are really tired from sawing and gluing all those bits of timber together. Sorry to hear about the bad weather Peter. We are having just what you wished for low 60's and rain every other day which is different for us. I have been sandblasting every day off with long sleeves, gloves, and full hood on and not even breaking a sweat. Keep the pics coming. Glad the shots are doing you some good. My grandma had those on her knees until they stopped being effective. What is coming out next from the Crowie Truck Factory next?

Looking really good Crowie. I hope you are able to spend some more time in the shed now, not that the current whether encourages that.
I noticed that you have made one fatal mistake. There is no Handy in one of the photos you just posted. Was it an RDO?

That is really one classy unit Crowie and the description of a tough
tipper truck has certainly been met with your handiwork!!

I missed that, you're right, no Handy in the photo with the tipper back up focused on the back of the cab....he must have been skulking on the bench somewhere I suspect!!

As Bret said I have been working him pretty hard lately but I wouldn't have expected him to miss a photo opportunity!!

He loves seeing all the toys he helps make in photos....bit of a ham in many ways but works cheaply...

I've had some very stern words to him about this little episode and he's promised me that it'll not happen again....

    Cheers crowie

    PS
What the heck is an ''RDO''!!
I surely never had them in my working life and sure as eggs, wouldn't be allowed or entitled to one these days....

I may have had a hiccup / setback with my order for the Tie Pins....

The ''Customer Service Staff'' at the Peterbilt Store ''International Orders'' have set me an email to say that they only sent international deliveries by FedEx at the princely sum of US$39.95, plus an international packaging fee of a further US$10, which is a freight bill of almost US$50 for a hand full of Peterbilt Tie Pins measuring only 1'' long each.

I have replied requesting special dispensation to be allowed to have the parcel posted with the USPS, who I'm sure would cost as much as US$10.00; so I'm awaiting there response.

G'Day & Thank you Bret, as mentioned above Handy and I have been trying to work hard though sometimes I think I've been carrying this project. There is still a ways to go to complete the truck; it's been slower than I would have liked but I have enjoyed the time in the shed. Today is the beginning of 4 days of near 100 deg''F'' for us so no overcoats in sight. Keep warm up in the north.

    Cheers to all, crowie
