Just catching up on some posts I seem to have missed and all I can say is "WOW". The bike is certainly coming along in leaps and bounds.

I got really lucky this morning I was looking around the net trying to find a good picture of
the front forks and found this little ripper!

For a person who works along the monkey see monkey do line.
It really can't get much better.
Those leaf springs look like 3mm MDF to me.

If you hold your nose just right and squint just a little, I reckon the two things
    should go together a treat.
Although I should admit that the forks are from an Indian Scout 101 not a Straight Four.

I'd much rather make sawdust, but I'm off to make sparks!

    Cheers.

is that the real deal that you found.

Bad news ... you might have to do a flare on the housing for the forks to take the bearings.

Great find and the bike is looking great

That's 'cos it doesn't have wheels on, yet.

    That was really kool!
Maybe there's hope for me yet.
But probably not if they gave that job to me I'd be making their F1's out of MDF and PVC.

Thanks for posting that mate I really enjoyed it!

    Hi Trevor,

Your build is looking awesome - what a great job. I have question please - what type of body filler do you use and where do you purchase it ? I notice you have said you used it earlier on.

    Regards

Over the last few days I've been working on the front forks.
It took a fair bit of time to get the forks to look right.
Due to the bicycle wheels I'm using having the hub's and rim's
not quite at the right 2/3 scale of a straight four.

    IMG_1855.jpg IMG_1861.jpg

But overall with some allowance's being made it seems to be working out.

    IMG_1863.jpg

At the moment I'm finishing off the yoke and then I'll get started on the springs
    and support arms.

    IMG_1859.jpg

Now it's at the point were with every completed part it's looking more and more
    like a finished motorcycle.
I'm having way to much fun!

    Cheers.

Trevor, that's an understatement if ever I heard one. It's more than just 'working out'. It's looking fantastic. One of the best, if not the best, build that I've ever seen.
    Keep up the great work.

If you told people outside of the forums what this is made from, they would lock you away in a padded cell for the mentally insane.

I knew it was going to be something special but this is light years ahead of special, its in a class all of its own.

I didn't get as much done as I hoped in the last couple of days.
But I did get the springs for the front forks made.
The main leaf (the longest one) is made out of an old piece of 3mm
steel plate the tube wielded on the end is from a curtain rod.
The other five leafs are 3mm MDF.

    IMG_1865.jpg IMG_1870.jpg

I took the chance to put the wheels on to get a look at the overall appearance of the bike.
So far so good, minus the seat, handle bars and mudguards the proportions seem to work.
Although there's a real chance that at some point I'll cut the petrol tank in half and add 30mm
    or so to it's width.
I built it to the scale of the original but with the modifications I've made to the front
forks, to make allowance's for the bicycle wheel the tank looks a little narrow.
Still it's good to see the bike looking like that, more done than not.

One thing I'm finding is that it's starting to get really heavy now it will be good to get it into a roller.
It's not the sort of thing I'd like to drop, I think my scents of humour is pretty good.
But that would test it's limits!

    Cheers.

Having Crowie's pic so close to yours it's a lot easier to see the scaling discrepancies you mention.

But y'know what? I think that in real life, even a die-hard Indian fanatic would have trouble picking them unless they had just such a handy reference nearby.

The awesomeness of this model is growing with each addition.
