Thanks to all I'm really happy that you seem to be enjoying the build.

I got the basic shape of the Generator and it's support bracket made today.
The bracket is made for MDF and Generator is PVC and MDF with some 3ply.

    IMG_1445.jpg

It took a fair bit of time adjusting the fit of the bracket to get the generator
    inline with the Magneto.

    IMG_1450.jpg IMG_1449.jpg

I've made the Generator in three parts that slide together that will help with it's
    overall appearance when finished.

    IMG_1444.jpg IMG_1446.jpg

I'll need to have a good look around tomorrow for a pulley belt that will do the job.
Hopefully I'll find something down at the recyclers.

    Cheers.

Not a hole lot done no the engine today.
I spent a fair bit of time looking around for a pulley belt without much luck.

I did get the breather about 80% made.

    IMG_1453.jpg IMG_1457.jpg

It's funny how much of a difference a coat of primer makes.
I was going to say what it's made from, but you can see it.

    IMG_1456.jpg

I'll probably finish it tomorrow in amongst the ongoing pulley belt search.
One really good bit of luck today at the recyclers was coming across an old Stanley Mitre Box.

    IMG_1460.jpg IMG_1461.jpg

It's got a ripper of a Disston saw in it.
I don't think its an early one, more than likely around the late 60's early 70's.
But still really nice and looks like it will clean-up well to.
    And the price?
    Wait for it!
10 Bucks gotta be happy with that.

    Cheers.

Nice job on the Stanley with the Disston saw, once cleaned up should help with the build of some of your great models

I found a V Belt today and got going on the pulley's.
Like most things I shaped them out of some MDF and PVC.

    IMG_1462.jpg

Now that I have them in place I can see I'll need to modify the Generator a little.
But the overall layout seems to work pretty well.

    IMG_1477.jpg

I'm really happy to have that more or less done.
Even though there isn't much in the way of pressure on the parts.
It's always a little worrying I don't think V belts were ever really meant to go with MDF.

    IMG_1480.jpg

That's about all of the main parts I'll add to the engine at the moment.
I wont to spend some time detailing what's been done.

    IMG_1481.jpg

Adding nuts and bolts to parts for detail and repainting a few bits and pieces to
    give them more depth.

    Cheers
    Trevor.

The engine is really coming together now Trevor. Looks good enough to run.

I can't even begin to imagine how it's all going to look when the frame is also finished. Well, actually I can - just like a real one.

I modified the Generator and gave it a coat of paint,
and I added some recesses to the generator cap.

    IMG_1483.jpg

I shortened the generator so that you can just see in front of the Gear Cover
    from the other side.
Possibly not the best way to scale something but it does help to keep it all
    looking about right.

    IMG_1491.jpg

I also shortened up the pulley end of the generator as well to give it a bit more
    clearance from the Magneto.

    IMG_1485.jpg IMG_1497.jpg

I'll hopefully get the magneto shaft detailed tomorrow.

    IMG_1494.jpg

    Cheers.

It's been way to hot to get to much done today.
So I went for something pretty straight forward,
and made the basic parts of the kick-starter.

    IMG_1499.jpg

London to a brick it's the first part someone will brake off the
    bike when it's finished.
The brake levers usually come a close second.

    IMG_1501.jpg IMG_1504.jpg

I made it so that the foot peg can be turned back in, to try and keep it out of the way.
I'll have a look around for some wire that's the right size.
The kick-starter has a really cool external spring.

    IMG_1502.jpg IMG_1503.jpg

Anyway I'll see if I can get some more done, it should start to cool off a little soon.

Hi Trevor ,this is just brilliant work, and I think if you are expecting a near cooling period in Mildura ,they must have ,channeled the hot weather down here in Sheparton, but I hope you are right want to see more of this build.

Will it have an engine number on it somewhere?

Thanks Eddie, my workshop is a carport closed in on three sides.
I'm about 6 foot 1 and the tin roofs only about 8 feet from the floor.
I call it snug except on days like today was, when I call it other things!
    Hot being one of them.

There will be an engine number Ray, it will be on the flywheel housing on the left hand side.
It will be TJ050691 its my sons initials and birthday.
I think it's the Neff artist in me, I use a lot of personal stuff to make up engine numbers, registration
    labels and number plates.
I never put them on until I really happy with what I'm building.
I guess to me its a bit like signing something, it makes it official and there's no turning back.

    Anyway thanks Guy's
I'm really glad you seem to be enjoying the build.

It's was another hot day here, but not as bad as yesterday.
Or maybe I was just having to much fun to notice.
I had a go at rolling a spring for the kick-starter and fluked it first time.

    IMG_1510.jpg

I rolled a piece of fencing wire around a bit of PVC pipe.
And to my surprise it looked right.

    IMG_1507.jpg IMG_1508.jpg

I added a couple of bends for the attachment points.
I still need to spend some time shaping the kick-starter itself.
But the overall look is there.

    IMG_1512.jpg IMG_1506.jpg

I didn't do much else with the engine today, after getting the spring first time
I thought it better to walk away, I reckon I'd used up all my luck in one go.

    Cheers.

That spring looks great, as does the whole kick-start. Well done.
