Sparks from table saw.

Quick question

Just a one off but I had sparks fly when I cut some heavy timber recently. Does this ever happen to you? Normal?

Not necessarily, some, especially stressed, trees will absorb more soluble silica during dry spells when the tree is stressed. This silica can precipitate out forming a small grain of sand inside the wood.
Seeing sparks while using a TS is especially common from timber/trees from dry country.

Definitely did not his any nails etc and it was not from the mechanical side of the saw. The wood was Tassy Pink Myrtle. Was resawing a rather thick piece for such a small saw.

Funnily enough, no. Nothing mechanical when I was doing that cut. Was having some difficulty getting through the timber ( although only thin), and sparks flew. Only happened the one time. Was just curious. Loose blade was a bit more of a serious issue!
