Can anyone identify this kanna maker
Hi All,
I purchased this kanna which appears to be a good quality piece with jigane of wrought iron.
Can anyone help with identification of the maker?
Regards,
Gadge

Hi Gadge,
The second and third kanji of the central group of three, say "Hiro Masa. The first character I can't figure out (yet). The others are very stylized and don't read anything directly, I don't think. The top right figure may represent a group or the vicinity where the blacksmith lives (I have some kanna with this mark as well, but don't know what it represents for sure) and the lower left would be like a signature mark, only meant to be associated with one particular blacksmith (this sort of highly stylized mark is called a "Kao" I believe).
So (something) Hiro Masa may or may not be the name of the actual blacksmith. Hopefully Schtoo or Des will be able to shed more light on it.

Thanks Sheets.
Armed with your input I searched around and think the maker might be Sakura Hiromasa.
I'd be grateful if anyone could back that up.
Regards,
Gadge
