    Default MRAP Cougar

I have decided it is time to pull my finger out and make another model. I choose Toys and Joys new MRAP Cougar. I received the plans on Friday and I went through them over the weekend. Now I don't know if I made the right choice. It is a great looking model but I fear I may have bitten off more than I can chew, time will tell. If there is anyone else out there who like me does not know what MRAP stands for it is Mine Resistant Ambush Protected. As far as I can make out they were first used in Iraq. Several thousand of them have been made but there is no standard design different companies all have there own designs. I have put up a pic of what it will hopefully look like. I will post my efforts as I go.(good and bad) Cheers Frank.

Looks like a beauty. I'm looking forward to this build, Frank.
It's definitely more than I could handle.

Thanks Peter but it will be a struggle class not a master class. Steve I am not sure that I can handle it but nothing ventured nothing gained.
    Cheers Frank.

I decided to make the cougar out of Myrtle and the wheels American Black Walnut. I have some small pieces of American Cherry that I will use on some of the smaller parts for a bit of variation. Being the type of vehicle that it is it can't be gaudy.I have ordered the Myrtle and Walnut and it should be here in the next couple of days.
I have some small pieces of Myrtle left over from the stage coach so I decided to make a start on the front grill. The surround is Myrtle and the vents Cherry.
The first pic is the surround before the outside is cut out. The surround wall is so thin I decided not to cut the outside until I had fitted the backing board for the vents.
The vents are triangle shaped pieces 1/8inch X 1/4inch which I cut using my hand driven mitre saw. The final pic is the finished vent.

    Cheers Frank

Not much to show my wood has not arrived so just messing around with a couple of bits and pieces. The diff set up and air breather. Nothing glued together at this stage of course. Hopefully the wood will arrive tomorrow.
    Cheers Frank.
