Some fiddly work aligning the rear axles and ensuring the front and rear wheels are in line and that the ute will sit level on the ground. Commencing fitting of the ute tub chasis. Constructing a rectangular fuel tank that will sit directly behind cab and in front of the ute tub. Starting to resemble a ute.

A bit more work done on the ute. Chasis is now complete. Prototype fuel tank made that sits at behind the cabin. The rear wheels have now been painted and completed with a gloss enamel.

Thanks Steven. Pity the Falcon won't be made again, but at least I have the last model - it's a ute.

    Yes...a real shame.

I have a 50th anniversary XR6. Nice car, has been great.

But i have a hankering to get my first car back, it was an XD 351. Cant beat the V8 rumble. Midlife crisis looming!!!!

What about the Model "T" with XR6 running gear and 351 power plant.... that'd fix the midlife crisis......OR maybe a 2 door Bathurst 351GT??

I needed to make an exhaust system for the ute. It worked out that a spray paint can is the correct scale size for the muffler.
I ensured the can was empty no propellant remained. I made up ends out of MDF and bored the correct size for the exhaust pipe (conduit). I then araldited all parts together. I used filler to fill crack. When dry I sanded off. I screwed the ends in place. I fitted exhaust pipe and araldited. I then sprayed with chrome enamel. Fitted and secured exhaust system to motor and chasis.

Very clever Keith.... You as Trevor would have a ball at the local recycle yard..
I also noticed a "crank handle" on the front, which I hadn't seen before...
    Looking good, sir.
    Cheers, crowie

I have started work on the ute tub. I used pine boards glued together at the edges to get the height of the tub I wanted. I then smoothed them up by planing through my thicknesser. Then a lot of hand sanding. The tub is just glued butt joint and screwed. I have an MDF base. I plan to line the floor of the tub with "floorboards" which will be stained. I have rolled some aluminium flat for the mudguards for the rear wheels. I have a number of ideas on how I will secure these but will take some experimentation.
