    Default Blizzard p40 Warhawk - WIP

    Hi,

    Have started making a couple of P40 war hawks from Norm Marshall's Great Book of Wooden Toys. So far I have used pine and silky oak.

    Looks great Todd though the runways needs clearing[sorry]...
    That Norm Marshall's book is very good for wooden toys....
    Are you painting it or clear lacquer??

    Default P40 continued

    Hi,

    Have finished the Flying Tigers P40. The Wheel assemblies were tricky but came out ok. The propellers were a nightmare - decided to go with a 5 blade design which looks ok. Found some pictures on google for the tiger smile, eyes and stars. Still needs another coat of varnish but looks pretty good. The timber is Pine, Cypress Pine and silky oak.     G'Day Todd, They look awesome....
    Love the five blade prop, the machine-guns and the decals which really set the planes off....
    You have certainly done a very fine job on these flying machines....

    Nice going Todd!! Have to agree that the 5 blade looks better!!

    Just wondering if a bit of shaping could be done on the prop blades? Maybe next time!

    Yep artme,

    I agree. I have purchased a Dremel equivalent that I am still learning to use. Which I used to shape the propellers. Attention to detail is the next thing I have to learn. Every toy that I make is an opportunity to develop my skills. The best thing is that my boys loved the planes. It is amazing that the faults that we see are not important to the recipients of these toys. Thank you for the awesome feedback.
