    Default Timber Jinker early 1900s

A timber jinker as used by the bullock teams to haul logs to the sawmills over 100years ago.
Heaps of vague photos on Google, but nothing as to how they were constructed, some were made from logs, others could be saw timber or logs adzed to size.
The only item of the same construction on all jinkers were the wheels, even though over all sizes varied from 1200 to 1800?.
The jinker will be attached to a steam traction engine, (no bulls), these are both commissions for a sawmilling company.
The wheels are 100 mm diam, spokes were from 12x3 huon, rims and hubs from myrtle, groves in hubs for spokes were 3.2 mm, hubs 24 mm diam finished length 22mm.
Spokes were pushed from inside of the rim, a jig held all in place as the hub was pushed down, a dob of super glue held every thing in place.
The band on the outer was 2 layers of blackwood veneer. John.

That is some great work! Beautiful job. I'm looking for a simple jig to mount a drill on my lathe to I can use the indexer to drill holes for spoke wheels for cars. Know of any such jigs that are fairly easy? I have a wood lathe.

Crowie, My ability on the camera leaves a lot to be desired, besides I get carried away on work and forget to take photos.
Maybe the next model I'll remember for some shots of work in progress. John.
