You guys are amazing!! What an example of good old fashioned helping your mates out when they are in need. Knowing Andy, I bet he was so overwhelmed with such generosity. But Andy is always willing to help others too, so this is great karma.
Well done Brett and the other Bee Hive members. What a wonderful welcome to the Blue Mountains woodworking community for this young man
regards,
Dengy

I must make mention of some chaps who were unable to make it once the date was firmed up (due to previous commitments):
chambezio (who was going to come down from Tamworth!)
crowie (but he'd already done his bit anyway - picking up the ply with Andy on Monday)
Ochaye
Ross
Sawdust Maker
TruckieMuzz (coming up from Moss Vale)
There were others at the GTG that I know would have been there with bells on, but I'd reached comfortable quota (before we'd be tripping over each other, which is also why Skew and I scarpered down to the pump shed job).
The final roll call was:
fletty
NCArcher
Pac Man
rwbuild
ShaneSmith80
Skew (both days, and The Girl today)
Excellent job chaps - I thoroughly enjoyed myself with you all!

Cheers Dengue - but make no mistake - we all got just as much out of it as Andy - just in a different way. I was eagerly looking forward to the look on Andy's face when he took the hat of the wall (particularly after Pac Man told me that he was coveting his mallet - that was just sweet ).
Andy - didn't you wonder why I was in and out of that cardboard box all day? I had to measure for the screw holes on the hanging device, show it to each of the chaps in turn. I was even marking the wall with the drill when you were but a metre away. Heh heh. Glad to know I haven't lost my touch of "hidden in plain view".
Do you remember fletty saying he thought you'd both better go and get the coffees? (me to Pac Man: "I need you to divert Andy for about 90 seconds." "Ok, I'll get fletty on to it" and you were gone in a second. Nice work flett-meister - very smooth.

Just saw this thread. Inspirational stuff. Not only did everyone donate their time and effort, but I bet they had a good time too. Can't give you enough kudos Brett and the beehivers for doing this.

What an awesome effort by everyone involved. Goodonya FenceFurniture for organising this.
It also means we shouldn't be far off from seeing more of Andy's work.

Its so easy to sit in front of the TV night after night and watch people in conflict with others, property being damaged and so it goes on. There only seems to be story after story of man ability to put the other man down.
Not so in "Forum Land". From the outset (well since 2009 when I joined) you see information swapping all over, tools being loaned, in many cases to a person who you have only communicated with a computer. Then the escalation to what we have seen over the last 2 days. Just after WWII when there was a building boom in progress when whole streets were alive with families building their own houses (Money was tight, materials in short supply, and a shortage of tradesmen). Neighbours would help neighbours because everyone was in the same boat. That spirit of helping a mate/neighbour has always been in the "Australian way" and here we see it in its magnificent actionJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

I had no idea that you were planning a surprise. I remember Fletty asking me to help with the coffees but I thought nothing of it. It's a awesome little mallet and something I've always wanted to get! One thing I also didn't notice was the photos being taken - good job mate!

This is a magnificent 12 out of 10 effort by so many top blokes...
I just got back home from Brisbane and found Brett's & Andy's emails plus this thread.
I love the photos of all the HELPERS, thank you.
[come on Alan, I'd love to see more of your photos too, please].
Andy, That ply on the wall looks awesome; it looked pretty damn good stacking it in the trailer, but now your shed reviles Brett......even swept clean!!!
I'll have to drop out to check the handwork first hand very soon.
To one and all, A GREAT JOB VERY WELL DONE!!!!
Cheers, crowie
