That's about the limit of my photography, but I can tell you it reads;
THE JOHN SIMPSON SAW
NEWBOULD & CO LIMITE.
SHEFFIELD
I am amazed at the depth of historical information that exists! I can see that it might be a very slippery slope indeed if one was to get too far involved!

The bolts had enough meat to accept a m4x0.7 thread, so that's what they got. Made some nuts to suit after adapting the handle a bit so as I could get some more thread on them. Made a screwdriver to suit too!
And put it all back together.
So, been there, done that, I'll quit now while I'm still ahead. (Unless I find another one for 50c)

Betcha half a stubbie you'll end up with more saws before the year is out.
Having done a restoration, the next step is to make a saw from scratch - not a lot more difficult.
Nice job, btw, looks like a good little user, and not too shabby in the looks department, either.........
Cheers,IW

Very nice work with the restoration to the handle and saw plate assembly. Made some new saw nuts too.
Down the slippery slope you slide burraboy.

Mayhap you went to google with "Newbould & Co"??
RayG has your mark (basically) ... http://www.backsaw.net/index.php?opt...d=54&Itemid=92
Halfway down ... "Newbould Samuel & Co. Lim. Newhall road"
Some other Newbould related items ... no dates ... http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a...mnsn&cid=-1#-1
Samuel Newbould & Co http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Samuel_Newbould_and_Co
Sanderson Bros & Newbould (Samuel) http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Sanders...s_and_Newbould
Read about Sanderson, Sheffield (at some stage Sanderson & Newbould) pg 87 (chap 7) http://books.google.com.au/books?id=...FFIELD&f=false
London Gazette 12 Dec 1967 mentions a John Newbould & Sons Ltd, Dick Lane, Bradford http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issu...13581/page.pdf
more of the early Sam. N. here pg27 ... https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r...pkywBCaeeTFEFA
