SO NOW I HAVE ANOTHER COPYRIGHT VIOLATION TO DEAL WITH!!!!!
http://about.pinterest.com/copyright/
AND SOME VERY TERSE WORDS WILL BE SENT TO "RTUTSKY" WHO DID NOT ASK ME FOR PERMISSION TO USE MY IMAGES.
AND AFTER READING THE PINTEREST WEBSITE FOR AN HOUR, I HAVE DISCOVERED THEY JUST COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT ME, WHO OWNS THE IMAGE, AND THE RIGHT TO USE IT.
NOTE!
THESE IMAGES WERE STOLEN FROM WEBPAGE AND ARE BEING HOSTED ON A SERVER WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.

HERE ARE THE LINKS TO THEM ON MY WEBPAGE.

http://www.petermcbride.com/fincham/...ch_chisels.jpg
THE LAST ONE WAS ALREADY STOLEN BY SOMEONE ELSE, AND "RTUTSKY" HAS LINKED TO THAT STOLEN IMAGE!
HERE IS MY IMAGE...
http://www.petermcbride.com/planemak...ges/bull03.jpg
APPARENTLY I AM THE ONE WHO HAS TO DO ALL THE WORK TO PROTECT ME FROM THEIR MEMBERS STEALING MY STUFF AND ADDING IT TO PINTEREST'S SERVERS.
ALSO....FROM THEIR WEBPAGE...I SHOULD BE THRILLED ABOUT THIS USE OF MY WORK..... THE NERVE OF THESE CLOWNS.
WHEN SOMEONE LIKE PINTEREST OR "RTUTSKY" HIJACKS MY WORK TO GET TRAFFIC TO A WEBPAGE THAT ISN'T MINE FOR A COMMERCIAL GAIN, I GET VERY, VERY IRATE.
Regards,
A very angry,
Peter McBride

I understand your annoyance and frustration but have you notified Pinterest and Rtutsky. You do have rights but as the owner it's always your responsibilty to assert them.
By all means tell us but inform the poster, website owers and hosters first.

Doesn't pintrest have a link to the source under the image?? It usually does.

Peter, as you are in a position to verify YOUR ownership, then it's up to you to assert and prove ownership and any breach. That concept predates the internet. I actually suspect breaches of copyright were more common and detected less when the world was less connected.
Most sites will not check first, it's simply too cumbersome and gets in the way of what they see as their intention for the website. So you are partly correct that Pinterest and most other websites - or other forms of media delivery - have no interest in checking ownership of copyright but if YOU inform them of a breach of YOUR copyright ownership, then they almost always compelled by law (US in this case) to investigate. Diff laws apply in diff countries depending on where the site is hosted and where the owner is based but most countries have some form of copyright protection that specifically refers to websites.
I was not referring to the posters in this thread - sorry to confuse - I meant you should contact Rtutsky.
Your real woes start if they won't play ball.
25+ years managing IT including company websites and monitoring upwards of 2500 users means you have to be in touch with issues such as copyright. I'm out of the industry now, but not everything has changed.

I was looking for some time for a very long article I read - probably when Ron Hickman died 2011 - about the issues he had defending against knock-offs.
Cannot find it online - which is distressing to my generation.
Eventually I realised that was a patent issue, not copyright.
But I'd still like to remember where i read it. If it was the newspaper I would have kept it. Somewhere.
So this is OT, but might have some interest ...
1st - that there is a patent search blog! - http://britishlibrary.typepad.co.uk/...k-decker-.html
2nd - the man - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obit...n-Hickman.html
3rd - found a different long article - pg 51 - http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc...=rep1&type=pdf

Fantastic place, rather overwhelming in person, and only a fraction is on show. In 2012 Sindelar had much of the collection professionally photographed (the lighting setup was still in place in May 2012 when I was there), so we should expect a book at some stage. Sindelar traded tools with David Russell, whose book http://russellawt.pagesperso-orange.fr/ some may have seen, or if deep pockets - purchased http://www.bookdepository.com/Antiqu.../9781898565055. The collection was auctioned by David Stanley in 2011, http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/au...egoryID=104904, probably because Russell is apparently suffering the 'old timers disease' we all fear (at my age anyway!) in his castle in France.
I had read somewhere Sindelar was moving his joinery factory (the tool museum is in the building), and Martin Donnelly sold a lot of his tools last year at auction; but the website indicates visits are still available. If you are driving between Chicago and Detroit (to visit the Ford Museum - a must see), the museum in Granger is an easy detour through sleepy Indiana.
Cheers
Peter

Until I read Peter's eloquently stated concerns of pirating/infringement/ theft, I was about to say .....
WOW, 2 of our own are included, Peter and Trent (Harold and Saxon)!
I feel for you Peter but I still loved seeing your beautiful workmanship and art displayed in such company.

Some really nice stuff there, I for one don't have to worry about any of my tools showing up there, as they don't have a junk section!
Seriously though, some of my gear I made and posted on various forums ended up on another tool site and so I just added a few more to it.
