    Default Rifle Stocks

    G'Day,
I am a gun dealer in Yanchep just north of Perth.
I want to get a bunch of rifle stocks copied and cut on coloured laminated plywood from the USA. The stock shape and inletting* will need to be reverse engineered.
I want at least 30 stocks to begin with and I can supply the models for reverse engineering - these models are in fact existing rifle stocks that have been modified.
Is there anyone in Australia that can do this at a reasonable price as I don't really want to go to China for this.
    Regards,
    Ian

There is a fellow in Tasmania who does some good work with profiler. I just got a lovely exhibition grade walnut stock set for a BSA sporting 303 off him and I'm most pleased. I'll sent him an email to see if I can give his number to you.
If you find you have dug yourself a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
I just finished child-proofing our house - but they still get inside.

    Hi Ian

I appreciate the thought of giving the work to a local gun stock maker, but I have to ask, if the coloured laminated plywood is coming from the US, why not have the stocks manufactured in the US?

My understanding is that US labour rates and rents are generally lower than those in Australia, so a finished stock out of the US is likely less costly than one made in AUS.
    regards from Alberta, Canada

    Just for a side note,

This is what a gun stock looks like on an initial laser scan
