    Cool Sparrow folk Uke

Made a couple of ukes for the girls in Sparrow Folk.

Their nicknames are the fox and the lark - hence the lark sound hole and fox liquid inlay on the sparrow egg uke. The fox is purple because she works as Captain Starlight at Canberra hospital.

Because my imagination is a little limited I went tangential and made a uke out of a Captain Jack sparrow tin lunch box. Might I say I am very proud of the pyrography brigantine I made there. The top spanker and the stays'ls are not missing - I asked the imaginary crew in my head to stow them so that I wouldn't have as much trouble with fiddly details - I was only using a $8 soldering iron after all. Apart from that I could not be happier with it. Fret markers are paua shell beads and there are side markers made from black "pearls" squeezed into slightly under size holes and fixed with superglue. Would you believe the postage on that tin from the US cost more than all the other parts put together - now there is real piracy.

Warning: playing this ukulele may cause symptoms of being an undead pirate. If symptoms persist, please consult your doctor or trained mental health professional.

Great builds. Hard to imagine that nice of burning with a soldering iron! My grandson (3 years old) loves the animated "Cars" movies so I make him a Uke out of a cars lunch box. He loves it.
