Yes Paul, Bret started his big toy back in September 2012, now he's been working on now nearly 2 years....a labour of love, patience, effort and dedication on his part, Bret's attention to detail is FIRST CLASS....My little trucks are easier, quicker and cost a whole heap less though I'd love to drive his when it's finished if I ever get to Texas.

Just a little progress today, it's been a cool day here [again]...

Cut the timber & glued the windscreen in place plus cut the toolboxes, along with more sanding...

Peter in regards to your question about the cab lights. Here is a closeup of the cab lights from my Scania Truck. I think if you made these minus the stands they are on and maybe sanded the bottoms of them flat they would look more Peterbilt style. Too be honest the reason I made stand for them is you couldn't see them over the visor.

You're absolutely flying on this Crowie. It's coming up really well and looks like it's nearly time to glue things together.
Unfortunately I got way laid with my project at the weekend and didn't make any progress. Spent most of the weekend cutting up timber for kits for our club. They are for kids to assembly on a Father's Day evening at a couple of Bunnings stores in September.

FIRSTLY, Thank you those who gave help on the cabin lights....

I have taken a simple option using the pointy end of the clear wooden golf tees plus Steve's suggestion from another thread to dowel the parts in place.

I also took on Steve's other suggest on how to reduce the glue slip issues by using Titebond Original; I bought a couple of bottles off Carroll's at the Sydney Wood Show.

The air-horns have also been doweled with 2mm dia bamboo toothpicks with the ends being to tops off some small axle pegs; I've put in an order to Toys & Joys for the 3/16" Axle Caps as they seem to be the only supplier of that size I could find.

The sleeper has doors added to the sides out of 2mm sliced Black Sassafras.

Now while the engine was and cabin is being glued & clamped, I started preparing the timber for the "drop-deck trailer".....

I butt joined the appropriate length of the Black Sassafras adding a couple of biscuits in each joint for strength.

Anyways, that's about it for now, slow and steady progress.

That Black Sassafras which was close oh so close to being firewood has been used well, THANK YOU!!

This combination will be almost 40" [1.1mtr] long x 6" [155mm] wide....

It's going to take another month to finish this project and with a couple of KindyGym projects that are on the "to-do-list"....

I now have a timber species I know the name of that I like and would love to get my hands on in small boards,
though expect it might be way too expensive for a simple toymaker.....cheers, crowie

Thanks Dallas, Yes, I'm going to be in trouble with the boss about it's length! Where are you going to fit it??

YES!! I'd love to get some, just a few, small boards of Black Sassafras timber to have on hand for highlights or details, if you know were I can score or buy cheaply, some shorts/offcuts, I'd surely appreciate the lead thank you.
Thinking about it; any timber that's pretty with colour, figure and grain, I'd have to consider, though I'd have to keep the purchases small and under my hat as the timber storage area under the house is fast becoming full.

I've been watching glue dry over the past couple of days but the truck is coming together plus I've done some more prep work on the trailer so there will be some photos tomorrow.
