    Default Proserpine Turnout

Lately I have been hearing rumors that the Proserpine Turnout is not happening this year and that it may be the end of an era. I rang Con in Proserpine to see what was happening. Con tells me that he has become involved in another activity that unfortunately clashes with the timing of Turnout and has had to cancel Turnout for this year. but he did say that Turnout will run again next year.

Had heard the same rumour but it's good to have it confirmed. Shame though - I had a good chance of making it there this year

Not good news at all. CJ and the Prossy crew have done a stirling job over the years. It has been a joy and an honor to have participated in the event and to have rubbed bevels with some great turners there.

Hope the Brisbane boys have been notified & the grapevine is working well. I have heard rumblings are afoot to save it this year but I am yet to hear of anything being confirmed.

Thats a bummer, as I am going to be in Aus this year, I had started getting out a stack of timber for the great raffle, that hopefully Marilyn was going to help me run again.
    lets hope something changes,

Hey Geoff the rumbles are true. The Mackay club are currently kicking around the idea and weighing up the numbers to run the Turnout in CJ's absence and then pass it back next year.

Early days so keep fingers crossed.
    cheers

    Righty Ho!
I know this might ruffle a few feathers.
But for the sake of argument and hopefully (heated discussion),
    Who really cares about woodturning?
I know I do, and I will bet most other folk reading this forum do too.
Perhaps the occasional individual out there who collects pieces by the "big names in woodturning" will do too.
However, woodturning is a pretty underground occupation these days.
I have not seen any "World Cup" woodturning titles on offer lately, or Olympic Gold Meadals in woodturning to boot on offer.
Any suggestions as to how to make woodturning seem irresistible to the masses is what I'd like to hear....... So that woodturning shows like the one in Proserpine flourish.......not die.

Maybe this should be the start of a new thread rather than be placed under the Prossy post?

I too wonder if this should be a new thread. It could develop into some interesting discussions.

    Default Its back on!

    Hi all,
The Mackay club is going to run it, Dave Dresscher was here on the weekend with some flyer's advertising it. Just need someone from the Mackay club to post a link to the entry form now.
As in previous years I will donate a heap of different timber blanks for the super raffle for a bit of fun and we just need Marilyn to help me run it. For anyone that has not been before let's hope she makes it, if only for her jokes.
    Rgds,
    Crocy.
