Default Seeking Midi lathe advise - Teknatool Midi lathe V something else?

Is there a comparable or better option for a midi lathe around the price of the Teknatool Nova Comet II Midi Lathe? ($749.00).

I had ordered one from Carbatec in mid May, at which time they advised that delivery time would be about 4 weeks - i.e. mid June.
When mid June passed they advised that they were expecting them now more like mid July.
Mid July has passed and now they are saying mid August.

I had done a bit of research and this "seemed" like the best value with a variable speed 3/4hp motor - but should I be looking at other options instead of persisting with Carbatec's continued delays? And if so which ones?

Thanks for responding Jim, they look great and I'd love to be able to afford one - though I'm not sure that "3 times the price of" quite meets my need of "around the price of"

The reason they are 3 times the price is quality

You dont get that with a chinese lathe.

You buy this lathe once and no need to upgrade.

Yes not what you can afford right now but you would never complain about buying a Vicmarc lathe

Some other midi lathes worth a look are the Woodfast, GPW Midi and Jet.

I went through the process a while back, check out my thread here - https://www.woodworkforums.com/184586...e-suggestions/
I ended up buying the GPW, I am still in the process of setting it up - https://www.woodworkforums.com/186427...-mods-set-wip/

If you want the best and have the money to spare, get the Vicmarc, but for less money I think you would be happy with either the Woodfast or the GPW.
