If it is like mine the carriage will not go down far enough and 1/4" is the thinnest I can do so what I did is get a piece of MDF or any other flat sheet material and fix a lip at each end so that it sits in the planer with the lips hooked over the fold down in?out tables. It means that you will have to measure the wood each time, but at least you can get it thinner.
Hope this makes sense if not will do a drawing or get mine out when I next have the opportunity to do so and take a photo.

I used a flat 3/4" board and double sided tape.
I never tried any thing real thin.

Sorry Crowie I'm no help at all.
The closest thing I have to any kind of dust extraction or control system is a broom
If at times it needs more than that the bloke next door has a great leaf blower
Cheers mate

It looks impressive and can certainly get down to a very thin veneer. I have a low end Ryobi and do as Dalboy does and lay a sheet of malemine through it which has dowels protruding out the underside that locate in the gap between the bed and the infeed or outfeed table to prevent it moving. The restriction I have is that the anti kickback fingers will only allow the cutters to go down to about 6mm and then they dig in to the malemine. Having the whole unit moving as shown in your link should overcome this problem as the fingers would push back as the sled moves through.
Like the author says, it is slow but if you only need to do a small amount or not very often, it could be the answer.
Good findDallas
