Maybe you should have titled the thread "Saw restoration", Paul, rather than "making". I thought amputating the saw in the article was a bit premature, it didn't look all that worn down or kinked, but I guess it will fit in the toolbox easier now. Some very useful links to user-made saw vises, which will interest both restorers & makers. One wet afternoon when I have nothing else to do I might finally get around to pulling all the saw-making info I can find together, & posting the links in the one thread in the saw-making section - been meaning to do it for at least 2 years, so don't hold your breath! P'raps I should just start the thread & leave you to fill it in - you're better at finding things....
    Cheers,
    IW

"Makers" in this sense is kind of a new word ... semi-new to me at least ...

a modern day sense of self-education and experimentation and "making" that is a pretty good sign for "modern times" I think

(although with a focus on film-prop reproduction and making-for-tv, some stuff Adam Savage has built on Youtube looks good but doesn't reflect the degree of lasting quality you get from builds in fora like these)
