Evanism, you could get one of the hex bit adapters and use a hex drill bit.

I picked one up from a flea market. Only had a flat blade. Bought a phillips head bit from Woodwork Book and Tool Store. They sell a German brand ( Boker ). Comes in 2 sizes, similar to the Yankee.

I tried to sell a couple on eBay last year and did not get a nibble. I've read postings from members of this forum disparaging them as unwieldy and likely to slip and scratch their work.
Some one posted that some prospective employers would pass over an applicant if they saw one in their tool box ( i can't seem to find the thread). I too have bought a hex adapter and use mine from time to time.
My dad in his lighter moments sometimes referred to his claw hammer as an "American Screw Driver". He was stationed with the Americans during the war and was an admirer of their "can do" attitude.

Phillips head screws were the result of an intense lobby in American Government in WW II.
Could not stand the concept that a better head design was the Robertson (Canadian).
I used to ship boxes of R's to American wood working friends.
Somebody told me not long ago that the Chinese have 12 factories which turn out billions of
R-screws each year. I don't wonder why they made that choice.
Phillips are crud.
#4, 6, 8 in my shop #12 & 14 outdoors. Done.
