I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to make some more of these after this.

    Terrific work.
    Paul.

Brass keeper plates for the box depth adjusters have been installed.
    Brass sole plates fitted.
Final coat of garnet shellac applied.

    Still to complete:

    Sharpen irons up.
    Test each plane for performance.
    Stamp makers mark.
Replace current fiber washers with a smaller size. (order completed)
Complete a final buff to the shellac finish after 7 days of hardening.

Hi all. Finally finished working on the 4 box chamfer planes. All tested for performance and passed with flying colors.

    I've had a premonition.
Paul will bring the chamfer plane to the next GTG so we can all have a play.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Tony for a condition like that you should take a tablet. Try these:

    stone tablets.jpg

    !

Actually I tried searching for tablets and all I got was these electronic square gismo type touchy feeley bissos !

That'll teach me to go for a simple remedy. OK if I can make the next GTG, remind me to bring it, but I'll have to visit bunnies for some chain. I wonder how they would feel to have their expensive power tool sitting there safe, but the chain missing .

    Regards
    Paul

My TTC chamfer plane arrived in the post today and what a little beauty it is too. Beautifully made and although I have not had the opportunity to try it, I feel sure it is fully functional. Unfortunately I won't even have time to try it until after Xmas as I am working until Xmas Eve and travelling South early Xmas morning.

Thanks Stewie and you have done a great job. I have both lots of instructions and am eager to try it out. I can see lots of projects with a bevel on them from now on .

    Regards
    Paul

I'm late to the party with this thread

Stewie very nice job on the planes. After drilling out do you use floats or just chisels?

I'm really glad you inset the brass, it is well worth it in terms of professional finish to the plane. I don't think you should stop with this batch, you have a winner there. Maybe some in ringed gidgee next.

Hi Dale. Mortise and firmer chisels, followed by floats.

I have never even cut a mortice other than on a saw tote. On something this large how do you maintain the sides square and parallel. Also how accurate does it need to be?

Have you got your saws and planes in a shop now??

Hi Dale. With great care and skill.

I dont rely on selling my tools via an established trader. My prices are at present are very fair and reasonable. If I were to sell my tools through an trader their 30 to 40% commission would then need to passed on to the buyer. I am not interested in a high turnover. My preference is to focus solely on making high quality traditional tools at affordable prices. If anyone is interested in purchasing my work I am only a pm away.
