Those links are just superb. Several things of interest including the saws he makes.

    Thanks.

Some of these objects have got me to thinking. A workbench that is a good height for me to plane, gives me a sore back for extended chiselling and sawing. So I made mine a compromise between the two. A bit high for planing, a bit low for sawing. But if I made a little bench just for sawing and chiselling like some I see here, I could, without taking up,to much space, have two benches that were exactly right.

i like the look of the bench with the big red end vice. Just right for sawing and chiselling I think. Even I am too short for the last one. Just too short.

I think you meant too tall ... ?

In which case, I think you're misunderstanding the scale here ...

Exactly my thinking. In fact I was considering a modified version perhaps with one pair of wheels so it could be moved around like a wheelbarrow for when I am working outside.

As a couple of my sawhorses disintegrated a while back I am in the market for another set so those ponies, that somehow remind me of king post trusses, are looking very attractive. I might make them higher though. Will consider using softwood as I won't be needing to suspend a Sherman tank across them.

I have some new saw horses on my to do list.
One bench with features like was posted by Pedder of Two Lawyers saws on his blog.
I like the idea of a small tray to hold stuff. This one is neat, though I'd go for something much sturdier in practise.
He photographed it on holiday in Sweden.
Read about it and more pictures on his blog here:

I knocked up these on the weekend and showing SWMBO my handy work she has promptly commandeered them to "try" them for her new office desk that "I" am going to build her. Ha ha. Guess I will be making another set out of some pretty hardwood so I can get my pine ones back.

I made one of these, wasn't sure if I'd use it but ends up I use it all the time, the 21 inch height is really perfect for rip cuts with a hand saw.
