Brazillian ironwood- caesalpinea ferria- (excuse the spelling!) also known as leopard tree or in Brazil as pau ferro
meaning, surprise surprise ironwood!
Sapwood is extremely susceptible to borers.
Heartwood is densely packed fine grain and very dark but with some colour through it. Turns well with sharp tools and finishes beautifully, just like some of our eucs..
Good score MM. Look forward to the pics.

MM, are you back at it?
What are you using to cut up these stumps? An Alaskan mill?

Oh man, this is great news. I asked about the Alaskan because of the smaller sizes and I knew your back was a bit in need of "rest". I regret not having come up for a few weeks and gained a few splinters under your tutelage.
You (were) are (now) one of my favourite suppliers (if this made sense!). I have some fabulous stuff here, but it was depleting!
This is glorious.
All we need to do now is work out an economical way to delivery a bulk load to Canberra for myself and my 7 lads (we are a wood gang!) and we can do constant deals! Let me have another chat with my couriers.
ev-o-saurus!
Roarrrr!!
