    Unhappy Bandsaw tire creep.

I just bought my first bandsaw. It is an older 14" Powermatic. Just about everything that could need fixing, needed fixing. I've gotten new bearings and cool blocks, and new blades. The lower wheel was missing several washers and a hold down bolt. I got all that squared away and think I got the lower wheel lined up with the upper wheel. The guy I bought this from said the tires were fairly new and they are orange…….neoprene? The problem is that as soon as the saw begins to run, the tires start creeping off of the wheel and fairly quickly the blade is off the wheels entirely. I'm guessing that this means I need NEW tires, but seasoned input would be greatly appreciated. I've experimented with blade tension and this doesn't seem to make any difference…….frustrating.

Contact cement should help hold the tyres in position.

Probably urethane tires. I put a set of Carter urethane tires on an old Ezy-cut band saw and had the same issue even after following the installation instructions to the letter. They were a bugger to fit & were tight as but the top tire seemed to warm up in use and walk. I just eased the tire off the wheel using a round steel mandrel (phillips #2), as they recommended to even out the tension in the tire, and placed a few drops of CA glue around the rim. No issues after that.

Good advice above. Look up The You Tube Video by Alex Snodgrass on setting up a bandsaw.

I am using urethane band saw tires, I didn't glue it down but it works well. Maybe you need to glue down your tires.
