MG model returned home
PICT0003.jpg
We picked up the MG model yesterday from The Royal Melbourne Show Craft Pavilion.
I was blown over to learn that the model had also collected "The Popular or People's Choice Award ".
This award is decided by the highest count on votes with voting slips placed in a barrel and counted at shows end.

It's not hard to understand why your work has collected so many Blue Ribbons.
Quality and Craftsmanship not only shines in the eyes of the judges, it's just as bright in those of the general public!
I'd go so far as in this case to say dazzling
Cheers
Trev.

Update on model car
Hi just an update ,
I was trying to get the MG model into The Geelong show .
Upon filling out the entry form for the show a couple of months ago,
I soon realized that the model was considered to be to large to enter the craft competition , It fell outside the size restriction for woodwork .
The restriction is 600mm x 600mm .
The model it's self comes in at around 900mm in length = (300mm to long ).
I made a phone enquiry and this was confirmed it was considered too big.
With it's success and popularity at The Royal Melbourne Show - I was encouraged by staff there ...to ask Geelong to revisit the situation .
Although realizing that the competition wouldn't be an option on account of the model's size , It was suggested in that call that it may be ok to display it outside of the competition .
I was told that enquiries would need to be made and the right people consulted ,
And was told that I would get word back on this........... last week ............No reply.
To have the model on display would have been an attraction and I think quite a lot of Geelong people would have liked to see it.
I have been in contact with a couple of MG car clubs,
To get they're impressions on the model.
The MG car club of Victoria has shown a lot of interest from photos emailed to them.
They have asked for it to attend a future club meeting in Melbourne.
Also The TC or MG TC Motoring Guild ( Based in California U.S.A.) - with members throughout North America as well as other countries has also shown encouraging interest .
The Motoring Guild are featuring photos and an article explaining it's construction in they're next monthly newsletter.
She's getting a few miles on the clock !..........................................................Wayne.

I can sympathise with you Wayne.
I have the same problem all the time.
It's a shame that a piece that shows such great skill and craftsmanship as your MG should be limited in it's availability to the public.
I'd think it was more just the sort of thing people should see more of!
Good luck with it all.

Congratulations on the feature article in the current issue of the Model Art magazine.
It was a great read and showcased the superb quality of your work.
I'm always pleased to see craftsmanship of your calibre in the public arena.
It can only be a inspiration to all.
Cheers

1/4 Scale model MG TC.
Hi,
I haven't had a chance to have a look at the forum for a while -
I've been pretty busy
But I did get onto it this morning.............
Thanks Trev from "Repliconics" for the kind words on the page .
As I said - I've been pretty busy with the Mg and a few of the other wooden models over the last six months or so .
I loaned the MG and other models to "The Geelong Museum of Motoring" for a while in the later part of last year.
"They were very popular and will return later this year".
While researching and gathering information on the MG -
I made contact with quite a few people ,
Some of those people were from MG car clubs etc.
I had contacted The President of an MG car club in Los Angeles in The U.S.A. -
This car club was called "The TC Motoring Guild" .
They were very interested in the project and asked me to send some photos of it - when it was completed .
I sent some photos and a short description of the model and it appeared on the cover and in the December 2014 issue of the TC Motoring Guild newsletter.
This article was also printed in another MG car club newsletter,
The "Abingdon Rough Riders" December issue .
This club is in San Francisco in the U.S.A.
Another contact I made was with "Classic MG Magazine" in North Carolina in the U.S.A .
The model has featured in the current issue with a four page article.
We were asked to attend - And took the model to the November meeting of "The MG Car Club of Victoria" .
This meeting is held once a month in Melbourne .
The members of the club were very happy to see the model at the meeting .
The Motoring Interests Manager of the RACV contacted me after seeing the MG model at The Royal Melbourne Show last year.
He asked me to display it - And other models at "The Australian Motoring Festival" in March 2015 at The Melbourne show grounds .
And as Trev from "Repliconics" has mentioned -
The MG model was also the cover story with a four page article in The February - March 2015 issue of Modelart Australia magazine .
I have posted a video of the Mg on Youtube ,
It shows a few of the moving parts ie. Steering and door locks etc.
Here is the URL .

I'm not much of a cameraman so please bear with it.
Thanks.....Wayne.
